What seemed to be not that unusual of an occurrence falling on the bunny slopes, turned into devastation to all that loved her.

This week, my friend took a tumble over her own two feet ,landing face down on her dining room floor. One black eye and a terrible headache later, she proceeded on with her day.

We as women are multi taskers and super succeders and so continue with the usual laundry list of chores. That is exactly what my friend did , until the exhaustion over took her being. After much coaxing , my Friend agreed to see a doctor. One MRI and a full exam later , she had a concussion ! She was restricted from all daily activity and went to bed !

After A few days of what she thought was total indulgence , she was out and about doing her normal routine. Unfortunately for my friend nothing seemed normal. The headaches where back and so was the inability to function at her usual pace.

Today she spent the day having repeated tests and we have yet to know the results.

When unexpected accidents happen to total strangers or someone near and dear, it leaves us feeling very vulnerable , knowing it could happen just as easily to any of us.

I pray for the family of Natasha Richardson to find peace an understanding .

This morning When I got to work, I had no clue the impact of my recent decision to relocate my shop would have on my eight year old niece ,Carly.(I refer to her as Carly Q)
Let me give a brief history , so you will understand the importance of her feelings......

Even before Carly was born ,my sister Lisa would sit in my shop ,very pregnant , very anxious and very supportive of my anxieties being a shop girl !! In fact , Carly was born a few hours after a very long Saturday hanging out on the "man chair " in the shop.

Lisa and my new , quite adorable niece Carly become regular fixtures at my shop when ever their time and my shop hours coincided (which was every Saturday and an occasional weekday )

Got the picture ???? Oh yes , Carly was the mascot and the customers loved her presence She added another dimension to the shop. She would have danceathons and collect change from patrons to give to my favorite charity.... (an Epilepsy camp).Carly would stand in my display window and pretend she was a mannequin, promoting her favorite pick of the day. Needless to say , this is her home away from home !!

After twelve years ,four leases and a feeling of desperation...... It is time to reinvent and step out of the comfort zone I have known all of my shopgirl years

Iam relocating and reinventing myself !! Starting a new adventure !! Two days ago The for rent sign apppeared and the first person to read in horror was Carly !!

I watched as her eyes welled up and she found a comfortable place to nest in the bottom of an armoir cabinet. My heart broke for her . Change is difficult at any stage of life and when you are eight years old , your whole world has been shaken . I immediately started a dialogue about some obscure topic and when I saw Carly feeling a bit more settled , tried to reassure her about the changes and she will be an intrical part of journey.

sometimes ,we have no clue the impact we have made on others.

A New Phenomenon

Last week I received a new shipment of bags which we have been carrying for quite some time.
